The Warriors Pride, play in Division 1 in the Edmonton Ladies Softball Association, which is about 22 games. All games are played at John Fry Park on well-groomed ball diamonds with lights. Typically the team will play in 3-5 tournaments, Provincial Championship play and hopefully Western or National championships. Tournaments can be in British Columbia, Alberta or Saskatchewan.

The Edmonton Warriors would also like to solicit “Senior” level players interested in being part of a Mentorship Program with the Peewee and Bantam level programs. The Warriors Pride should be an example of the best that the Warriors have to offer.

This should be a rewarding experience for the senior players to offer themselves as a positive role model and make a contribution to the future of the game. Those interested can work with the Peewee or Bantam teams as well as participating in our annual clinic with Mite and Squirt community league players.

The first choice of the coaching staff is to have full time players committed to league, tournament and championship play. If needed, we will assist in keeping players involved in the Senior Program, while trying to balance other commitments to work, education, family, etc. We will consider the following playing options.
1. Full time/full fee

This is for the player that can commit to the majority of the league, tournament and championship play.
2. Part time/part of fee
This option is for the player that cannot commit to a full season. This allows you to play a combination of league, tournament and/or championship play. Fees will be based on your commitment. If you only want to play league with no weekend commitment or only tournaments and championship play with no league, we will figure out how to keep you playing. In this option you can also offer to fill in for a full time/full fee player or roster-sharing player if they cannot attend.
3. Roster sharing
In this option you can partner with another player to fill a position on the roster and split the cost of the full fee. You or your roster-sharing partner will be expected to be available for league, tournament and championship play. We will carry an expanded roster so both players will be registered players.

Practices are scheduled in advance through the year, which will be open to all player options. Those players wishing to play through Provincial Championship and hopefully beyond will be expected to attend all practices; all other players will be optional.

We hope that you will come out and rekindle you Warriors Spirit and re-ignite your passion for the game. Please feel free to invite others players you may know that may not be on our distribution list. If you have any question on this season, or the upcoming season, feel free to contact any of the coaching staff or send us an email at

2010 edition of the Warriors Senior Ladies saw the majority of the 2009 team return with only three players not returning. Adding to the 2010 roster were two former Warrior Pride members plus two new players. One of the biggest adjustments was going through a season without one of our longest serving coaches, Richard Hauck who passed away in the off season. The team wore a memorial crest and continued to give out suckers after every game, something Rick was famous for.

The Senior Ladies Program continued to support minor ball by providing instruction at 4 clinics, one for the NEZ at the Kinsmen and three Softball Alberta clinics in Coronation, Sundre and St. Paul. Several of the team also supported the indoor clinics sponsored by the Warriors in the Kinsmen over the winter as well.

The season had more ups than downs but will be one remembered by lost opportunities.

  • Sicamous Ladies tournament: Lost the quarter final game to KAOS in an extra inning.

  • CWFA tournament: Tied the Calgary Thunder 0-0 but the Thunder advanced with a better +/-.

  • Shakers Tournament: Missed the playoff round in a tie breaker scenario again.

  • Warrior’s Pre-Provincial tournament:  Won the tournament

  • Sr. B Provincials: Won Silver being edged out twice by the Calgary Red Sox.

  • Sr. B Western’s: Qualified for the playoffs with a 3-3 record but lost the 3 vs 4 game to the Regina Extreme in an extra inning finishing in fourth place.

Highlights from Westerns:

  • Top batting Average after the round robin, Sally Sheldrake, .643 with other strong performances by Kari Pittet, .600, Jen Machetchuk .500, Ebony Bayrack .429

  • Four other players, Helana Dinstel, Lisa Dinstel, Marci Laevens and Shanna Van de Ligt with batting averages over .300

  • Ebony Bayrack 30 strike outs over 19 1/3 innings

2009 edition of the Warriors Pride included 3 new rookies and one returning veteran after a 3 year absence. After a successful conditioning camp at the Kinsmen the Senior Ladies hosted the Mite/Squirt clinic for the North East Zone Sports Council with 60 kids for a day in the Kinsmen Field House. The Senior Ladies followed that by supporting three Softball Alberta “Best Ever” camps in Drumheller, Wainwright and Okotoks.  All the camps were a great success and contributes to the future of the game.

 The Warriors Pride enjoyed a very successful season with many highlights including;

  • Winning the Edmonton Ladies Early Bird Tournament

  • A strong showing in the Sicamous Ladies Tournament

  • Finishing second in the Calgary Women’s Fastball Tournament

  • Finishing in first place in the Edmonton Ladies Softball Association, Linda Edey Division

  • Winning Silver in the Senior B Provincial Championships in Edmonton

  • Strong showing at the Senior B Western Canadian Championships in Regina; highlighted by our pitching staff posting the second best ERA and highest Strike Out totals in the qualifying round

While Westerns was a disappointment finishing with a 1 win, four loss record the Pride played tough losing all four games by one run and two of those games went into extra innings. Injuries did factor into our season with one of our veteran players missing most of the season and many others missing several weeks of the schedule and/or playing through injuries. The Senior Ladies Program remains strong and we are looking forward to another successful season in 2010.

2008 features some highs and lows for the Warriors Pride after a very successful season in 2007. 10 players returned from the 2007 team and were joined by 1 returning player from 2006 and 3 new additions. The team showed well in the tournaments entered this year finishing 2nd in the Early Bird and losing in the semi-finals in the Belles and Calgary Women’s Fastball Association tournaments. League play was sporadic with the line up challenged by work and family commitments. The team played its best ball of the season at the Senior B Provincial championships; finishing first going into the playoff round. After losing the 1 vs 2 game to the Calgary Ice the team bounced back with solid efforts in the semi final beating last years Western Canadian Champions, Silver Mountain Thunder, and then winning the first game of the final with the Calgary Ice forcing a second game. Unfortunately the Pride lost a hard fought battle surrendering the lead the seventh inning to finish in the Silver Medal position.

To make matters worse the 1-0 loss to the Silver Mountain Thunder in the final at the 2007 Western Canadian Championships came back to haunt us. Since a team from Alberta won the Western Canadian Championship and they return as the Defending Champions only one other team from Alberta would go onto the Western Canadian Championships. This meant that the Warriors Pride would not go to the Western Canadian Championships in 2008 as the Silver Mountain Thunder would take the second spot as defending champions.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2007 The Year to Play with Pride

One of the closing remarks at the end of the 2007 season pretty well sums it up, WHAT A RIDE! 2007 definitely was the year to play with Pride and it will hold many memories for years to come. With 11 of 16 players and 3 coaches returning from the 2006 team the foundation was solid. Two former Warriors returned to find their warrior spirit and three new members plus one new coach discovered theirs. Our solid core of pitching in 2006 raised their game to another level in 2007 setting their mark on season as one of top pitching combinations in Western Canada. Defensively we learned how to play senior ball and gained a tremendous amount of respect from our peers with our consistent and cool play. The defensive highlights are too many to list but they were TSN turning points. Offensively this is the year we became believers proving we can win the 1-0 game and then crush some very respectable competition when we fired on all cylinders.

Highlight reel for 2007:
Sicamous BC, lost the final in an extra inning,
Sherwood Park, lost the semi-final to the team that won the tournament,
Saskatoon Sask., won the tournament,
ELSA, finished 5th in Division 1,
Senior B Provincial Championships, Gold,
Western Canadian Senior B Fastball Championships, Silver.
Helana Dinstel won the top pitcher award at the Western Canadian Championships.

Warrior Pride was loud and proud in 2007

2006 Warriors Pride, Senior "B" Fastball

The 2006 edition of the Warriors Pride proved to be very competitive, full of team spirit and lasting memories. After a slow start to the regular season the Pride found their stride and finished third in the ELSA Division 1 "Red". Tournaments were a roller coaster with the best showing losing the semi-final in Leduc. The 2006 Senior "B" Provincial Championships saw the Pride entering the playoff round as the number one seed with a 4-0 record and scoring 34 runs to 1 against. Playoff Sunday was not so good as the Pride lost two Western Canadian Championship qualifiers to finish 3rd in the province. 2006 saw some new faces and previous Warriors returning to the game, all contributing to Warrior Pride team spirit. It is the journey and not the destination that will be remembered. Playing with pride and seriousity!

2005 Season Summary

There were many changes on the Warriors Pride from 2004, which made it a season of change. Nine players & 1 coach returned from the 2004 team and nine new players and 2 coaches were added. This years team was very competitive finishing in the money in two out of three tournaments, fourth in Senior “B” Provincials and third overall in the ELSA, Division 1. With only one team in Alberta entering Senior “A”, the Senior “B” field is very strong and while the fourth place finish was not the goal it was a very respectful finish. In the ELSA, Division 1 they finished behind the only Senior “A” team in Alberta and the 2005 Junior “A” Champions.

This season may not have been filled with gold but this exceptional group of ladies made us all winners.
